Why go solar now

Is solar worth it in Hua Hin?

Yes — and more so than ever. Hua Hin averages 4.5–5 peak sun hours a day, so each kWp of panels produces roughly 1,400 kWh a year. Homes using over 400 units a month pay around THB 4.8 for every extra unit, so every unit you generate and use yourself is money kept. In 2026 Thailand also offers a personal income-tax deduction of up to THB 200,000 and a 20-year buy-back contract, while the Ft surcharge is scheduled to start recovering gas-cost shortfalls from May 2027 bills.

Who benefits most

Solar for homes, villas, hotels and businesses in Hua Hin

The rule of thumb: the more electricity you use during the day, the faster solar pays back — every unit your panels produce is used on the spot instead of bought from the grid.

Residences and holiday homes

Air-conditioning, pool pumps, fridges and home offices draw most power in daylight. A 5–10 kWp system cuts the daytime bill sharply, and surplus power can be sold back to PEA while you are away.

The 3Con standard

What is different about solar near the sea?

Coastal air carries salt that corrodes metal and connectors far faster than inland. In Hua Hin, materials and mounting methods have to be right from day one.

  • Panels certified to IEC 61701 salt-mistOnly modules tested for salt corrosion — suited to beachfront homes
  • Anodised aluminium rails, A2/A4 stainless boltsLess rust and galvanic corrosion over the long term
  • IP65+ enclosures with DC & AC surge protectionBuilt to utility standards and protected against lightning surges
  • Wind-load checks and leak-proof roofingRoof structure inspected first; flashing matched to tile or metal sheet

Equipment we trust

Which solar panel and inverter brands are best?

3Con is brand-independent. We offer two or three options to suit your budget and roof — every brand has a Thai distributor so warranty claims actually work.

How it works

What are the steps to install solar, and how long does it take?

A typical home installation takes just 1–3 days on site. The total time from survey to switch-on depends on PEA inspection queues; 2026 policy targets approval within 7 days for self-consumption and 30 days for systems that sell power back.

FAQ

Questions Hua Hin homeowners ask before going solar

How much does a 5 kW solar system cost in Hua Hin?

An on-grid 5 kWp home system in Hua Hin costs roughly THB 130,000–140,000 including VAT. The final price depends on roof type, cable runs and equipment choice.

Can foreigners install solar panels in Thailand?

Yes. Foreign homeowners can install solar and sell surplus power, and we provide English quotations, contracts and support.

Who can claim the THB 200,000 solar tax deduction?

Individual taxpayers installing a new on-grid system (batteries allowed) of up to 10 kWp on their home, with grid connection approved between 3 March 2026 and 31 December 2028. An e-Tax invoice is required, and the invoice, the meter and the connection request must all be in the claimant's name (one person, one meter, one system). The higher your tax bracket, the more you save — we work it out for free.

How much does PEA pay for surplus solar power?

Homes receive THB 2.20 per kWh under net billing on a 20-year contract, for up to 5 kW per meter. Because that is less than half the price you pay for grid power, the best design maximises daytime self-consumption.

What size system do I need?

Look at monthly units and the share used between 9am and 4pm. One kWp in Hua Hin produces about 115 kWh a month. Homes with THB 2,500–4,500 bills usually suit 5 kWp; pool villas with THB 5,000–9,000 bills usually suit 10 kWp. Try the calculator above for a first estimate.

What is the payback period for solar in Hua Hin?

Typical homes pay back in about 5–7 years. Pool villas with heavy daytime use take around 4–5 years and hotels around 3–4 years, while panels last 25 years or more.

Does salt air near the beach damage solar panels?

With the wrong materials, corrosion happens much faster than inland. 3Con uses IEC 61701 salt-mist certified panels, anodised rails, stainless fasteners and IP65 enclosures, and recommends more frequent cleaning for beachfront homes.

What permits are needed and how long does it take?

Self-consumption systems up to 1 MW need no generating licence, but require a PEA grid-connection approval and sometimes a local-authority notification. 3Con prepares and files everything; timing depends on the PEA inspection queue.

Will solar work during a power cut?

On-grid systems shut down automatically during outages for line-worker safety. For power during outages you need a hybrid system with batteries, which keeps essential circuits running instantly.

Will the roof leak after installation?

We install on concrete tile, corrugated, metal-sheet and flat roofs. The roof is inspected first, mounts and waterproofing are matched to the roof type, and roof leaks are covered under the package warranty.

How often should panels be cleaned?

Once or twice a year for most homes, and three to four times a year for beachfront or dusty locations, because salt and dust reduce output. The 3Con Care plan includes cleaning and inspection.
